MARK PARRY-BILLINGS, Ph.D.
Chief Executive Officer

Mark Parry-Billings was appointed Chief Executive Officer in August 2008. He joined TOPIGEN in 2007 as Chief Development Officer and expanded his role to lead the company’s operations in early 2008. Previously, Dr. Parry-Billings was European Director and member of the Board of pSiMedica Ltd. (a subsidiary of pSivida Inc.). Prior to this, he was Director of Research & Development and Board member at Innovata Biomed Ltd, a respiratory product development company, and held R&D positions at Schering Healthcare Ltd. Dr. Parry-Billings has a Ph.D., and was a post-doctoral fellow in Biochemistry at the University of Oxford.

LISA NOLAN, Ph.D.
Chief Business Officer

Lisa Nolan was appointed Chief Business Officer in August 2008. She joined TOPIGEN in March 2007 as Senior Vice President, Business Development. Dr. Nolan has over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry across the areas of business development, strategic planning, marketing, and clinical research. Prior to joining TOPIGEN, Dr. Nolan served as Vice President, Business Development & Strategic Marketing at SkyePharma and was responsible for a range of partnering deals including out-licensing of respiratory technologies and products. Previously, she was Vice President, Business Development and Strategic Planning at West Pharmaceutical Services, following marketing and clinical research roles that she held at Elan Corporation and Zeneca Pharmaceuticals (now AstraZeneca). Dr. Nolan holds an M.Sc. in Pharmacy and a Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacology from Trinity College, Dublin.

BARBARA VAN OYE, C.P.A.
Director of Finance

Barbara Van Oye joined TOPIGEN in November 2006 and is responsible for the financial reporting of the company. She oversees the development and maintenance of  TOPIGEN’s Finance and Accounting department. Prior to joining TOPIGEN Ms. Van Oye worked as a Senior Manager in the KPMG LLP Audit practice. Ms. Van Oye graduated as a Management Engineer in 2000 from the Solvay Business School in Brussels, Belgium. She became a Certified Public Accountant in Delaware, U.S.A. in 2001.

RENÉ PAGEAU, B.Pharm., M.Sc.
Senior Director, Clinical Research

René Pageau joined TOPIGEN in October 2005 and manages national and international Phase I and II studies in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) at TOPIGEN. Mr. Pageau specialized in Pulmonary Pharmacotherapy and Medicine. He was also involved in many clinical trials during the 16 years he worked in various hospital settings. For over ten years prior to that, he held the positions of Director of Scientific Information, and Regional Director, Clinical Research Operations, Latin America at Wyeth Research. Mr. Pageau graduated from Laval University in Quebec City as a clinical pharmacist.

NICOLAY FERRARI, Ph.D.
Director, Pharmacology

Nicolay Ferrari joined TOPIGEN in 2003 and he is currently managing the laboratory and overseeing the activities of TOPIGEN's research programs. Mr. Ferrari was Group Leader at CelMed BioSciences Inc., where he was responsible for the preclinical studies on autologous transplantation of stem cells for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders. Mr. Ferrari obtained his Ph.D. in Cellular Biopathology from the University of Montreal. Following his doctoral studies, he joined the laboratory of Dr. Howard Fine at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts, where he developed a stem cell-based gene delivery approach for the treatment of brain tumors. In 2000, he later completed a second postdoctoral fellowship at the National Cancer Institute, NIH, Bethesda, Maryland, to study stem cells plasticity.

ALAIN GUIMOND, Ph.D.
Director of Preclinical Development

Alain Guimond joined TOPIGEN in 2003 and he is currently overseeing toxicology, as well as manufacturing activities for all of TOPIGEN’s programs. After obtaining his doctorate, he continued his studies working in a number of academic institutions, including the Institut de Recherches Cliniques de Montréal and the Biotechnology Research Institute in Montreal. Mr. Guimond obtained his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Laval University in Quebec City.

ROSANNE SÉGUIN, Ph.D.
Associate Director of Immunology and Development Support

Rosanne Séguin joined TOPIGEN in 2005 and manages the Immunology research programs including the assessment of biomarkers for TOPIGEN’s clinical studies. Prior to joining TOPIGEN she held various scientific and project leadership roles at Celmed BioSciences. Ms. Séguin earned her Ph.D. in Parasitology from McGill University in 1996. She completed two postdoctoral fellowships, the first at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire and the second at the Montreal Neurological Institute. Ms. Séguin received post-doctoral fellowships from the Medical Research Council of Canada and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
